HEC announced 4500 Scholarships For Afghan Nationals :Higher Education Commission, (HEC) Pakistan invites Afghan Nationals interested in pursuing higher education at undergraduate and post-graduate levels in Pakistani universities.

Scholarships are being made available for 4,500 Afghan students over the next three years, aiming to assist them in pursuing higher education at Pakistani institutions. The objective is to foster new professional connections and enhance bilateral communication between educational institutions in both nations.

The third phase of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarship for Afghanistan will provide full scholarships to 1,500 Afghan students annually, enabling them to pursue their education in Pakistan. This program is based on merit, with selection criteria determined by the written test scores administered by the Pakistan Higher Education Commission (HEC).

During the prior phase of this scholarship program, Pakistan extended 3,000 scholarships to Afghan students, allocating 1,000 scholarships per year.

Eligibility Criteria

Afghan nationals with a robust academic background are encouraged to apply. Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

For Undergraduate:

  1. Completion of 12 years or equivalent education is required.
  2. The age limit is 17-23 years before the closing date of the application.
  3. 60% marks for general subjects, following the IBCC Pakistan equivalency formula.
  4. 65% for Medical and Engineering subjects.

Important Points:

  1. This scholarship excludes MSc/PhD programs in clinical medical sciences.
  2. To be eligible for admission to the PhD, candidates must have studied the same subject in MS/MPhil.

For MS/M.Phil:

  1. Maximum age limit of 35 years at the closing date of applications.
  2. Completion of 16 years of education is mandatory for candidates.
  3. A minimum of 2.5 CGPA or equivalent out of 4.0 is required in Bachelor’s/Master’s degree (16 years of education).

For PhD:

  1. Age limit is 35 years for non-faculty members and 40 years for faculty members.
  2. Candidates must possess 18 years of education.
  3. A minimum of 3.0 CGPA out of 4.0 is mandatory in the MS/MPhil degree.

 

Important things before applying to these scholarships 

  1. The scholarship is awarded based on merit.
  2. Awardees will enter into a legal agreement with the Government of Pakistan, committing to complete their education and return to Afghanistan after obtaining their degree in Pakistan.
  3. Shortlisting criteria include academic credentials and Aptitude Test (conducted by HEC) or Selection Interview.
  4. Applicants currently benefiting from or previously availing any other HEC/Government of Pakistan scholarship are ineligible to apply.
  5. Applicants must have attained the necessary academic qualifications on or before the closing date.
  6. Applicants with foreign qualifications must furnish an equivalence certificate from IBCC Pakistan/HEC Pakistan to the relevant University.
  7. This scholarship does not encompass MS/PhD programs in Clinical Medical Sciences.
  8. For admission to a PhD degree, the applicant must have pursued the same subject in MS/MPhil.
  9. Students can participate in examinations only upon presenting proper identification, i.e., Original Passport/Electronic Tazkira.
  10. Applications will be accepted exclusively online, and printed or hard copies will not be considered.
  11. Applicants are strongly recommended to regularly monitor their email and the HEC website for updates. It is advisable to apply well in advance of the closing date to seek assistance in case of any issues.
  12. HEC retains the right to postpone or cancel the scholarship process at any stage without providing a specific reason.
